Beyond the commissions, inquiries and reviews: we have the evidence to protect our children, where’s the action? | NAPCAN

September 7 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Since 2010, more than 60 government inquiries into child protection and youth justice have produced over 3,000 recommendations. Yet many remain unimplemented, raising a critical question: why do we continue to commission new inquiries when we already have a strong evidence base for reform?

This webinar brings together perspectives from across the inquiry and reform landscape to examine what has been achieved, what continues to hold systems back, and how to translate recommendations into meaningful action for children and young people.

Matt Tyler and Kate Fitz-Gibbon will reflect on what we know from past inquiries about preventing and responding to violence, abuse and victimisation. Luke Twyford (Queensland Family and Child Commission) will provide insight into system oversight and the challenges and opportunities in driving reform. National Child Protection Week 2026 is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.
