The workshop will provide practical insights to support practitioners in identifying, responding to, and referring clients experiencing family violence within the context of family law matters.

This Workshop Will:

  • Explore the intersection between family violence and family law, and how these issues shape clients’ experiences, decisions and legal outcomes.
  • Increase practitioners’ awareness of recent legislative changes and their implications for individuals and families experiencing family violence.
  • Illustrate the practical impact of these changes through a client story, bringing legal concepts and client experiences to life.
  • Deepen understanding of the risks, barriers and complexities faced by clients navigating both family violence and family law matters.
  • Strengthen practitioners’ capacity to identify and respond to family violence within the context of family law.
  • Enhance confidence in providing trauma-informed support and making appropriate referrals to meet clients’ legal needs.
