Southern Melbourne Area Early Childhood Improvement Branch Additional Year of Funded Kinder Information Session

An additional year of funded kindergarten may be considered when a child:

• Is developmentally delayed in at least two of the learning outcomes in the Victorian Early Years and Development Framework (VEYLDF), and
• The kindergarten/Pre-Prep program is deemed to be the most appropriate learning program and,.
  • The child will achieve better outcomes at Three-Year-Old Kindergarten than
    if they go to transition to Four-Year-Old Kindergarten (or Pre-Prep) the following year, or
  • The child will achieve better outcomes at Four-Year-Old Kindergarten
    (or Pre-Prep) than if they go to school.

Tailored especially for early childhood teachers and educators, this 1-hour session will focus on providing attendees with information regarding the additional year of kindergarten process and will explore:

• Starting Three-Year-Old Kindergarten.
• An overview of the additional year of kindergarten process – including key dates.
• Involving key stakeholders in the discussion – including families and the local school.
