VPVITH- Neurodiverse Affirming Practice with Young People and Their Families

Building on the Centre’s Four Pillars of Practice Model for YPVITH, the training builds on practitioners’ understanding of ADHD and autism by exploring different presentations and dispelling common myths. The training examines the links between nervous system dysregulation and aggressive behaviours. Participants will gain a practical understanding of how to apply a therapeutic approach, as well as some suggested practice modifications and strategies to enhance engagement and improve the outcomes for the young person using violence and support their families and carers to better understand neurodiversity.

The training is delivered by Dr Amanda Mullin, Doctor of Clinical Psychology and Director, Mindworx Psychology, and Karalyn Davies, Senior Project Officer, Adolescent Violence in the Home, the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare.
