Supporting Children Experiencing Technology-Facilitated Abuse

September 5, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Children and young people are increasingly being recognised as victim-survivors in their own right within the context of domestic, family and sexual violence. However, one emerging and often overlooked harm is technology-facilitated abuse — where an abusive parent, partner or carer uses digital tools to target or control a child, either directly or as a means to harm the other parent.

The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare’s OPEN team will co-host a webinar in partnership with the eSafety Commissioner to discuss these emerging harms and how youth workers can safely respond.
This session will unveil eSafety’s new toolkit informed by young people with lived experience, designed to help practitioners:

  • Recognise signs of technology-facilitated abuse
  • Confidently engage in difficult conversations with impacted children and young people
  • Implement practical risk planning strategies
  • Access ongoing support through eSafety’s Technology-Facilitated Abuse Support Service for frontline workers
