Join for a morning of live-streamed panel discussions, beginning with opening remarks from he Hon Tanya Plibersek MP and hosted by NAPCAN Youth Advocate Darian Brooker and NAPCAN Youth Speak Out member Eliza Tait.
Panel 1: Digital literacy as part of a broader ecosystem of supports that keep children safe 9:30 – 10:15 AM AEST This panel explores how to strengthen digital literacy across generations in a fast-changing online environment shaped by misinformation, scams, AI and exploitation risks. Panellists will discuss how to better equip children, young people and adults with the critical thinking, resilience and support systems needed to navigate online spaces safely and confidently.
Panel 2: Navigating the noise: how misinformation and media representation impacts children and young people 10:40 – 11:25 AM AEST This panel examines how misinformation and harmful media narratives shape public understanding of children and young people, especially those experiencing disadvantage. Panellists will explore how governments, services, media and platforms can challenge stereotypes, reduce harm and promote more accurate, strengths-based information environments.
