Early Years Morning Series Session: Supported Playgroups

The Southern Melbourne Child and Family Alliance (SMCFA), in collaboration with the Child and Family Working Group (0-10) are facilitating an Early Years Morning Series session on Tuesday 9th July 2024, between 10:30am-11:00am, online via Microsoft Teams.
The Morning Series are short and sharp online training sessions (usually occurring every second Wednesday of the month, between 9:15am – 9:45am until the end of 2024), to provide practitioners with practical knowledge in the Early Years space (client cohort aged 0-5). Various guest speakers will attend to present for 20 minutes, with 10 minutes at the end for questions.
SESSION TOPIC: Supported Playgroups – which create social connections, a sense of belonging, assist with child development, building parenting capacity and connections to other services, delivered by guest speaker Rachel Payne. The presentation will include information on how to refer, and the role of the program, where supported playgroups are located (and at what times of year), how the program supports families navigating and enrolling into kinder, as well as how to access food relief and referrals into other activities (e.g., swimming, gym, etc.)
TARGET AUDIENCE: These sessions were originally aimed at SMCFA Integrate Family Services and Family Preservation and Reunification Response practitioners, but is also open to any Child and Family Working Group members and their teams.
