Pre-Prep Reforms | Southern Melbourne Area Early Childhood Improvement Branch

In Southern Melbourne Area from 2026, Four-Year-Old Kindergarten will gradually transition to Pre-Prep. From next year, all children from the first priority cohort will be eligible for 16 – 25 hours.
The rollout of Pre-Prep will gradually be implemented with all children across Southern Melbourne Area becoming eligible for 30 hours of Pre-Prep by 2036.
