Safe Sleeping Training for IFS & FPRR Practitioners

Studies indicate that the prevalence of bed-sharing and co-sleeping arrangements for families in Victoria, Australia are quite high (read more here), and further feedback received from the SMCFA Operations Group indicated more training opportunities were required for Integrated Family Services (IFS) and Family Preservation and Reunification Response (FPRR) practitioners to be able to support their clients to the best of their ability.

To support this endeavor, the SMCFA facilitated training sessions for SMCFA IFS and FPRR staff, which were delivered by Red Nose trained educators, providing practical advice on the safest ways for babies to sleep, reducing the risk of SIDS and fatal sleeping accidents, following Red Nose’s evidence-based safe sleep recommendations.

Early Years Morning Series Sessions

The SMCFA facilitate the Early Years Morning Series in collaboration with Child and Family Working Group (0-10), which are short and sharp online training sessions to provide Integrated Family Services (IFS), Family Preservation and Reunification Response (FPRR), and Family Violence practitioners practical knowledge in the Early Years space (client cohort aged 0-5). Various guest speakers will attend to present for 20 minutes of the session, with 10 minutes at the end of the session for questions.

SMCFA IFS Flexible Package Support Workshop

The SMCFA team delivered a workshop to any interested SMCFA Integrated Family Services (IFS) staff in January 2024 to provide a comprehensive overview of the SMCFA IFS Flexible Package Support program. The hour-long session was delivered online, and included information on why the SMCFA is involved, client eligibility criteria, why we have a panel of approvers, how to apply for the funding, timeline for application completion, how to fill out the application form, and more!

The SMCFA team are happy to meet online with any of the IFS SMCFA agencies should their teams be interested in more information on how to access this funding or have questions about applying – contact the SMCFA General Enquiries inbox ([email protected]) to book a session!
