Flat Out is an independent, not for profit, community-based organisation that is managed by and for women, trans and gender diverse people. Flat Out works directly with women who have experienced criminalisation and/or incarceration, and to improve the rights and conditions of women in prison. Flat Out works to prevent women from going to prison, and keeping women out of prison once they are released.

Beyond Bricks & Bars:

  • Community Peer-Ped Project that provides direct support to trans and gender diverse people in prison, at risk of incarceration and those returning to their communities from prison.

Beyond Survival: Family Violence & Policing:

  • The policing family violence project responds to police accountability issues, duty failures and harms related to family violence policing. It seeks to intervene into and prevent the criminalisation of victim-survivors.

Family Violence Justice Project:

  • Family Safety Victoria (FSV) funds Flat Out to undertake this project with the aim of improving the accessibility and responsiveness of the service system for women who are criminalised and experiencing family violence.
