Primary Prevention

SECASA Schools Program

A comprehensive suite of prevention programs developed by SECASAFV to create a culture of respect, consent and healthy relationships in schools building safer and empowered communities. There are programs on body safety, consent, gender equality and Cyber safety. Built on a trauma-informed framework, the model offers body safety and personal safety education, with the aim being to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse. Some key topics covered are:

Early intervention and prevention through education and awareness.
Raising awareness of body safety and safe relationships.
Providing education and the language to empower young people.
Responding to disclosures and signs of child sexual abuse.
Equipping young people with skills and strategies to enhance online safety.
Empowering young people to make informed choices through understanding consent and respecting boundaries.

The programs are available across the school community supporting leadership, teachers, students and parents to understand the importance of implementing and practicing key strategies to ensure safety, equip young people with problem solving skills and tools to foster healthy and respectful relationships. These educational programs and workshops have been developed in collaboration with specialists in mental health, primary prevention, education and youth work.

Wellsprings for Women

Wellsprings for Women is a women’s only centre providing a range of programs and services that support and build women’s capabilities, self-determination, health and wellbeing. We operate in Dandenong, and outreach to Casey and Cardinia. We use a trauma informed and intersectional approach to our work which is underpinned by community development principles, human rights and equality.

Other Services include: Accredited Mental Health First Aid Training Women’s Support Provides Case Management to women impacted by mental health, isolation, family violence, poverty and homelessness. The services include, safety plans, risk assessment, intake assessment, emergency relief, supported referrals, material aid, support in accessing other services. Safety and Equity Programs Education on human rights, gender equality, prevention of family violence, parenting, self care, respectful relationships, mental health and physical wellbeing Youth and Children’s Services These programs support the skills and wellbeing of children and young women and include playgroups, study support. Housing Support Wellsprings has a dedicated Housing Support Practitioner who assists women and children at risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness. Priority is given to women and children impacted by family violence

Client Referrals Process	Both internal and external referrals are accepted. Client referrals can be referred from programs at Wellsprings for Women Referred from external agencies Self referrals through reception and or via email

Agency Brokerage Options	Internal Support For Clients is provided through: Flexible Support Packages Escaping Family Violence Payment Red Cross payments – Givit material aide and Voucher support Referral to services that provide material aide / financial support such as emergency relief services and Zakat Foundation (Support with rent)
Secondary Consultations	All professionals are welcome to seek a secondary consultation from Wellsprings. Information Sharing Requests Process	Information can be shared when external agencies complete Information Sharing Scheme (ISS) form. To request the ISS form, contact Wellsprings for Women reception and ask to speak to the Team Leader of the Women support team.

Women’s Health in the South East (WHISE)

Women’s Health in the South East, WHISE is the leading primary prevention agency for the health and wellbeing of women in the Southern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne. WHISE provide services based on strong body of evidence on primary prevention and gender equity. We work collaboratively with organisations and community to improve the health and wellbeing of all women in our region.
