This fact sheet provides guidance for older adults who may have experienced sexual assault, highlighting what constitutes sexual assault, the unique risks older people may face, and the support and resources available. It emphasises that assault is never the victim’s fault and offers information on how to seek help, report incidents, and access counselling.

OPAN advocates help tens of thousands of older people resolve their issues with government-funded aged care services each year.

OPAN is a national network of nine, non-profit organisations that provides free, confidential and independent information and support to older people seeking or receiving government-funded aged care as well as their families and other representatives.

Compass is a national website created to help older Australians navigate the complex issue of elder abuse and to guide action to end the problem. We make resources and information available both for older Australians and for the people who care for and support them.

The report addresses how older women are uniquely and progressively silenced in the context of domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) as well as elder abuse — emphasizing that older age is not a protective factor against violence.

The Third Edition of the NASASV Standards of Practice Manual for Services Against Sexual Violence provides a comprehensive, evidence-informed framework to guide specialist sexual violence services in Australia. It emphasises accessible, responsive, culturally safe, trauma-informed service delivery; workforce competence across modalities; organisational governance and quality improvement; and a consistent national benchmark for best practice. It is designed not only for front-line services but also for training providers, funders and policy makers, supporting a coordinated and high-quality response to sexual violence across the lifespan and across populations.

The Charter of Aged Care Rights (the Charter) sets out the rights of all people receiving Government-subsidised aged care services. The Charter applies regardless of the type of care or service.

The Charter makes it easy to understand what quality care looks like. It also gives clear expectations about the services supplied by aged care providers. The Charter is a requirement of the Aged Care Act 1997.
