ACD is the Victorian advocacy service for children with disability and their families. They are a not-for-profit organisation led by and for families of children with disability. They help families gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to advocate for their children, they support families with children from birth to 18 and the professionals working with them.

The Home and Community Care Program for Younger People provides support to people under the age of 65 experiencing difficulty with daily living activities.

The program is funded and managed by the Victorian Department of Health and is available to people under the age of 65, and Aboriginal people under the age of 50 living in the City of Casey.

Carer Gateway is an Australian Government program providing free services and support for carers.

If you care for a family member or friend with disability, a medical condition, mental illness, or who is frail due to age, then Carer Gateway can help you.

The Australian Government works with a range of health and carer organisations across Australia, known as Carer Gateway service providers, to deliver services to carers no matter where they live in Australia.

The City of Greater Dandenong Community Care Department currently provides a range of in-home care services that enable older residents who are over 65, (50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) or have a disability, to live as independently as possible in their own home and community for as long as they can and wish to do so.

The service aims for high quality, low intensity, ongoing support such as domestic assistance, personal care, respite care, meals on wheels and home maintenance. Services provided take into account each person’s individual goals, preferences and choices with a focus on pathways and activities that support wellness, independence and reablement when required.

The desire for independence doesn’t diminish with age. Home & Community Care Services aims to assist Elders to live independently for longer in their homes.

Services include:

  • Access to social programs in the community
  • Regular home visits
  • Maintenance services, such as lawn mowing

Home & Community Care Services are available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Dandenong and Southern Region. Assessments may be required prior to access.

Planned Activity Group

As part of DDACL’s Aged Care and Disability Services, we also offer a Planned Activity Group. The Planned Activity Group aims to promote the physical and mental wellbeing of Aged Care and Disability clients, as well as helping them to increase their social engagement.

Extended Families support people aged 0-40 and their families in Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula to build friendships and connect with their community (No NDIS funding requirement). Extended Families Australia is as diverse and as a team pride themselves on their capacity to support people form a diversity of cultural backgrounds. In Home Care is a type of education and care for families where mainstream childcare services are not available or appropriate. Families who are unable to access centre-based care, family day care or outside school hours care due to their unique circumstances may be eligible for the program. In Home Care provides an Educator to care for children in the children’s own home for families:

  • who are geographically isolated from other types of childcare
  • who work non-standard or variable hours
  • with challenging or complex needs.
